The ONLY Place for Breakfast in Grand Rapids
by foodie49504
Yes, you may need to wait a while, but after living in Chicago, Grand Rapids "wait a while" is nothing. Great, fun service, engaged owners, fresh food. Real Food.....sometimes the little kids in the restaurant should be parked outside, but next time I visit, I will bring my child/dog!
- Pros: Food, Service, Engaged Owners
- Cons: Families that don't control their children in this intimate space
Real food for real people

Frank and Rene opened up this Ma and Pa (younger version) and it was a homerun from the get-go. It is my favorite haunt for a big get-me-through-the-day breakfast or a quick sandwich at mid-day. Great ingredients and great value. Tasty, tasty treat. Make room for a milk shake or a slice of one of Rene's homemade cakes. New place on Northland Drive South of the Grand River is bigger, yet has the same atmosphere: short order cooking done right!
- Pros: Great food done the "real" way: like mom's best effort!
- Cons: very successful, very busy!

This restaurant has everything you want for your diner pleasures, while still having gourmet items on the menu. When we went their with 4 people in early morning, there was not a long wait. But at busy times and on weekends, this place really is jumpin'! Even if you have to wait the food is amazing and the people are as friendly as you can get. They have breakfast ranging from massive pancakes to omletes and homemade baked goods. And their lunch is great, with sandwiches, soups and salads. AND everything is homemade!
- Pros: great food, great people
- Cons: crowded on occasion
