Firstly, I have read the poor reviews
on this page, and I beg the audience to consider the source. On multiple occassions, grammatical errors and symbols dominate exaggerated thoughts. Consider presenting yourself in a more educated manner in the future.
Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry is by far the best experience I've had with jewelers. Three years ago, my father bought me a white gold necklace from Jared. During the following six months, the chain broke no fewer than eight times. For the repair, which was a simple break in the chain, I was charged $20 each time I brought it to Jared. At every one of my seven visits, I was treated as a number, and none of the associates remembered me (although I'm not surprised; at both Jared and Zales I have had to wait for an extended period to simply be greeted, even while multiple persons assist a customer or sit on the phone).
Finally, a friend recommended Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry. Immediately when I walked through the door, I was greeted with a big smile, genuinely welcomed, and introduced to both nearby associates. I had never met them, yet I was treated like a friend first, then a customer. I didn't give them any background, aside from the necklace being a gift, and they were happy to repair it. I had to leave shortly after I handed it to them, due to an emergency, but received a friendly call the next day informing me that my necklace was ready. I was genuinely surprised when the associate told me that there would be no charge for the fix, as it was previously so poorly repaired. His brother, who had fixed it, said that he could see every point that it had broken, because there were 7 bumps along the chain, which up to that point I had assumed was normal. (I had been paying $20 each time for that kind of repair!) The product I received that day from Medawar was seamlessly perfect and smooth.
Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry not only repaired my necklace, but repaired the poor job of Jared, at no charge. Their prices are very fair, much better than their competition, especially with such an increase in quality and service. I have returned on multiple occasions, at different locations, and they're all outstanding, always remembering my name and making me feel at home.
My favorite is the location on Plainfield, as they're who helped me with my necklace. This team has granted me a new perspective on customer appreciation. I feel that I've not only gained a jeweler, but also a family. They've most certainly earned my loyalty for life.
AMAZING!!! I recently inherited a Rolex watch from my grandfather. The watch needed some meticulous work done on it in order for it to work smoothly again. I brought my watch to Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry and I could not have been happier with the service and respect I was given. Not only are they a licensed Rolex dealer and repair store, they have an amazing selection of other fine jewelry. I was greeted warmly as I entered the store and a very professional young man helped me with my watch. The customer service I received was exceptional and my watch is now in great working order. I would highly recommend Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry to any of my family and friends. I most definitely will be back again.
They cannot be trusted! Paul Medawar's store was the worst jewelry experience I've ever had. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to go there.
AWESOME EXPERIENCE. I decided that since I am having a major birthday this year that I was going to buy myself something I have wanted for many years - an emerald bracelet. I went to the 5 stores in one of the malls and left disappointed. About a week later I passed Medawar's on Plainfield on my way home. I decided to stop in to see what they had. I walked in and within seconds was greeted by Dan Medawar. I saw 5 bracelets in the emerald showcase and fell in love with one of them. I took some time to think about the purchase then went back to buy it. Paul Medawar and his other son helped me then. I needed an extension but it wasn't possible to match the design of the bracelet and so Paul showed me another option - two gold closures that would give me the fit I needed. I also had decided to purchase a pair of emerald and diamond earrings. I asked if it was possible to remove the post and put them on wires. Yes it was! I received a call a few days later to let me know the items were ready. I walked in and Paul waited on me. He said he wanted to do something special for me and the bracelet extension was not the closures. It is made of gold links and diamonds! He did this at no extra charge to me. The earrings were great too!! Mr.Medawar and his sons have been so great to work with!! Several people who have seen the bracelet say it is beautiful but when they see the extension they say it is exqusite!! I have what I consider to be a one of a kind bracelet, a great pair of earrings and a jeweler (and sons) who I trust and will return to for future purchases!!
they were three times higher than the next. Checked around to have a very basic repair done and they were three times higher than the next estimate. I see why they pay more for gold because with what they charge for other things they can afford it.
Great Products, Great Customer Service!.
My husband and I first visited Paul Medawar jewelers a year and a half ago. Our intent was to sell two diamond rings and purchase something else. I mentioned that I liked a design and Mr. Paul quickly suggested using my two diamonds, purchasing a third and the ring design I wanted was mine. I had taken the rings to two other reputable jewelers but they did not make the suggestion.
The ring was made and I loved it. My husband was insistent in adding another ring with a row of smaller diamonds. I said no to the idea for 1 1/2 years. While visiting the business recently, I changed my mind. Medawar made me another ring, attached it to the existing one, and I know have 6 diamonds and the brightest blings you can imagine. I love the ring!
Mr. Paul has two sons, Daniel & David, who work with him. It is obvious that they are a close family that cares for each other and for their customers. They are just as friendly and delightful as their dad. The customer service is excellent! Products beautiful! I recommend this lovely store to anyone who wants to buy quality jewelry with quality customer service!
Outstanding personal service.
I am a Marine stationed in North Carolina and I wanted to get my girlfriend something nice when I came home for Christmas. I was coming home the day before Christmas and I had no idea what she would like so I called the store and a gentlemen actually found something for me and I was able to come in at closing time to pick it up. I don't know of too many businesses with that type of personal service. Especially on Christmas Eve.
I have been in the store a few times and it's always been a great experience. I would recommend them to anyone.
Honest and thorough.. Very honest and generous. Spent significant time explaining the issues with two table clocks I brought in. Couldn't repair the antique table clock except for a very steep price, not worth repairing. Another table clock I have worked except the chime was stuck and wasn't chiming. He fixed this without charge as he knew how much I loved the clock chimes. Furthermore, his son added a bracket to a bracelet watch, replacing the pin for no charge. Very sincere and honest. Wouldn't hesitate to return there in the future.
Great service/great store. I'm surprised to see a negative review, as my experience has been nothing but positive. Paul Medawar and his sons are knowledgeable and friendly, and I recommend them across the board for their sales, selection, and service. I have never been disappointed. I once took a mechanical watch in to have the timing regulated; the store was not very busy just then, so Paul invited me back into the shop to observe as he did the service. Very interesting opportunity to see what's inside the watch, to get a tutorial on how it functions, and to see a craftsman at work. Most recently, I took an Omega mechanical in for timing, and David did the work. It's now running with quartz accuracy. Oh, and they didn't charge me -- did that service as a friendly gesture, even though it normally runs about $150. Again, compliments to Paul and his sons. Highly recommended.
dishonest. I have been in to this location a few times. Once to get a ring sized and a prong fixed. They did good work but kept adding another $10.00 to the price. I have a diamond ring I had them take a look at to see if they would buy it and how much they would pay. He started out telling me what a nice diamond I had and gave me a decent price for it. After thinking about it for a day I decided I would take him up on it and went back in to make the deal. When I arrived, the same sales people were in the store. Paul took the ring from the salesman and took it into the back room. He came back out and tried to tell me it was a different ring. He asked if anyone else had access to the ring and that it had chips in it and it was an i,J clearity. Mine had no chips and was a SI1 clearity. There was no way anyone else coule have touched it. I never took it out of my purse. He offered me $200.00 less for the diamond because "he could not sell this to his customers". I declined his offer and drove to another jeweler. I asked them to check for cracks and see what the clearity was.........You guessed it SI1 and there was not a crack or chip in it. This is something he does on a regular basis people. He is not to be trusted! everyone that I have spoken to has had a story about him. I will never go back in his store again and suggest you don't waste your time going there either.
