Excellent Food and Atmosphere. My family and I have been to Kobe several times and never had a serious problem. Once the service was slow, but it was a busy night. The chicken and filet mignon are both excellent in my opinion, and my fiancee loves their hibachi shrimp and scallops. Even my picky 7-yr old loved her chicken, and she usually does NOT do "ethnic" food. I should have prefaced this by saying that we have never attempted to eat her on a Friday/Saturday night or holiday. I have worked in restaurants and Hello! - you WILL wait a long time to be seated with the potential (due to their unique seating arrangements) for mishaps with huge groups! To my knowledge, they no longer take reservations, probably due to the issues mentioned by previous reviewers. My advice, should you have a large group (10+) would be to have someone go ahead of you and put your name in... or to avoid traditionally busy nights. This, to me anyway, is just common sense. I have had their sushi twice, which was fresh and delicious both times. I found that the more we communicated with and were friendly to our chef, the larger and more flavorful our portions. Alcohol is pricey, but the drinks have never been weak, when we felt inclined to order them at all. It is unfortunate that others have had problems at Kobe, but I cannot say my experiences there have ever been negative. Five stars all the way.

Never Again Will We Go To Kobe. Was there NY Eve 12/31/2008. Over an hour wait past our reserved time. Lot's of people, busy night, well understood....but the bar staff had 3 people....only 3 on a busy night like that? Greatly understaffed and unable to meet everyone's needs adequately. We were lucky to get one drink much less a second.

Our party of 18 was split between the table halves. One half was almost done eating before the other half's chef even showed up. When the first half was done eating, they were asked to leave as the restaurant needed to seat other people. This was a part of our group who had come to eat together, now 1/2 of us had to leave and those who did not leave stood behind us while the rest of us ate. No chairs offered or were available.

Food was so-so at best. Calamari tasteless and bland, soup tasted like water with a couple of mushroom's floating in it. Lobster was overcooked and tough. Filet Mignon was excellent (a high point of the entire evening). Small portions of veggies for all, not very tastey either.

Upon our nice complaint of having some of our party moved out, all we got was an apology and so sorry, busy night, nothing we can do......what is up with that? Poor planning on their part for a busy night, poor service overall, although our server was doing whatever he could to keep up. Drink orders took forever (see bar staff above), so many of us gave up or went to the bar ourselves which wasn't any better (see bar staff above).

Not at all worth the $150 plus spent for 2 adults and one kid. Worst part was watching part of our party have to leave because they needed the seats. Look at other reviews on other sites, you will see our review is not too far from many of the other ones.

Will never recommend anyone go there. Stay away and get a better meal with better service somewhere else.

Worst Service of my life! But food was good.. Visited Sunday evening. Wasn't busy. Two servers on staff with no support from Hostess or Manager (Ken). Server (Tracy) was totally unorganized. Had to cancel two appetizers because main meal was half eaten. I had to get up from my table to find the server and ask her to serve my wife's meal (I had half finished my tapanyaki, she had yet to see her sushi platter). Complained twice to server who proceeded to defend herself for +/- two minutes!! What do I care about reasons? We're paying for a meal! Other tables waited 25 minutes to be asked if they want water, which came 20 more minutes later. Another table walked out due to slow (aka "non-existant") service. The Tapanaki experience was enjoyable and the food was good but after deplorable service, it's couldn't mask the bad taste in our mouths. Oh yeah, then bills were delivered to everyone at our table except ours because "the computer was down". So we had to wait an extra 15 minutes (while vaccuuming was going on around our table - its only 8:30pm??!!) for the priviledge of being billed for this gastronomic trainwreck. Complained to Manager on the way out and the waitress came back for another argument!! What nerve!

It was the worst sushi I've ever had and the manager was rude and unwilling to hear any complaints. Kobe appeared to be a warm and inviting place the staff was quick to seat us. When the sushi came out it was visually appealing but not a single item tasted good. I've dined on sushi in numerous states and know good sushi and this was absolutely terrible. Aside from the rice being to sticky and dense the fish was chewy and lacking in taste. When we complained to the manager he never asked how to fix the problem and told us that we didn't know good sushi, he simply took it away and dumped it and then still charged full price even though we didn't even eat half of what was presented to us. So if you like old tasting fish and sticky rice and a rude and out of line manger by all means check it out. If you want to be treated with respect and honesty and have good sushi avoid this place.
