Need to take classes in customer service!

by grhopea at Citysearch

My husband had been going here for 10 years, so when I moved to Grand Rapids after getting married I figured "why not". I shouldn't have! I have never been greeted by a friendly face, there are 2 or 3 main secretaries, all of which never smile and continue to make customers wait. The last time I called to make an appointment for a sinus infection it took 4 days to get me in...and my days were OPEN! Then the day I needed to go to the appointment I drove to 260 Jefferson, parked in the snow, walked through the parking lot, went up the 3 flights of stairs.... only to discover they had MOVED! Thats right, they moved over to a new location off of the East Beltline and NO ONE told me! They can see my records when I make an appointment, they can see that I had not been in since they moved... yet their awesome (sarcasm) secretaries failed to notice and tell me. I was then unable to make that appointment because when I called they told me that by time I would get there they would be closed for lunch. I was then rescheduled for 2 more days later! My appointment was at 11am. I got there at 10:50. I was not seen by the doctor until 1pm!! 2 hours and 10 minutes of waiting... AND NO APOLOGIES. The doctor actually only spent 2 minutes with me, didn't answer my questions, and said that he needed to get to lunch, "so if after your 10 day prescription you don't feel better call and make another appointment to see me." I WILL NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN!

  • Pros: was convienent location
  • Cons: everything but location!

Caring doctors with strong ethics and undertanding

by PondPwr at Citysearch

I am a 47 year old male and have been a patient with Grand Rapids Family Physicians for 25+ years. My primary care physician is always there for me and willing to listen and spend the time necessary to discover the cause for an ailment. He spends appropriate levels of time in doing a physicals and checkups. I have visited with a number of the partner physicians on occasion and they all complement the ethics and attitude that I want in a doctor. I appreciate the approach and attitude towards treatment and medication. My wife isa patient with the same doctor and feels the same way that I do.

  • Pros: Very caring, always willing to spend the time to listen before diagnosis
  • Cons: often a little bit of a wait to get in for the appointment.

Patient who has been treated poorly.

by kmiller021 at Citysearch

I do not recommend Grand Rapids Family physicians to any patient. I am constantly waiting to receive a call back from the nurse about important issues, medication renewals, and questions. It has been a month and I have not heard back from the dr. nor the nurse. I am not informed on what is going and I have gone with out my meds because the doctor or nurse never called my scripts in to the pharmacy.

  • Pros: Nice waiting room
  • Cons: Wait forever for servie, no call backs from nurses, scripts dont get called in to pharmacy.
