Great Repair Service with Headphones. I visited Blackie's because I needed to fix a set of headphones that I lost the receipt for. In a pair of Sennheiser HD 428s, one side of the headphones stopped working. I brought it in for repair and Blackie's identified that it had a busted jack, then replaced it within two weeks for around $25. The quality is the same, if not better, and the jack is now sturdier than ever.
Avoid. This is the second time we have had to use Blackie's for our TV, which is a Mitsubishi and covered under warranty. Every single time we deal with them we are not satisfied. They have horrible Customer Service, and never call you or update you on the status of your belongings, even though they've had them in their possession for WEEKS. It's going on 6 weeks since they have had our TV and there is still not a real estimated time as to when we'll have it back. Every time we call we are told something different. "OH, the part is shipping this week." "OH, we won't call you until we're done with it." "OH, call the store or company since it's their issue that the part is taking so long." The people are always shady and seem like total liars, even if they may be telling the truth, which I highly doubt. The way they come across doesn't make them seem credible at all. I wish that we didn't have to use them because they are the worst. I really wish they had some pride and wanted to make customers happy but it seems like they could care less. Our saga isn't even over yet, so stay tuned...
Blackies TV. They came out in less then a week, Found and fixed problem in less then a half hou on my T V.r. Treat them right and they will do likewise. Very good and polite.
Extremely Frustrating. They tell you that you get a service call and IF they can't fix it then they will have to take it in and you will have to pay for the service call and and then a deposit. I was told it will take around three days to fix. They don't communicate at all. When you call then the women that answer the phones are incredibly rude! They act is if you are truly inconveniencing them just to ask if they are doing their job. When they came to do the service call before even entering my house they told me they would have to bring it in. In other words it cost 67 bucks just to have them drive the tv there. You get the run around about parts ordering only to have them not fix your equipment. Avoid at all costs!
Great Work.
I recently brought my Mitubishi 55 dlp into blackies for minor problems.
even though i had to wait a couple weeks for my tv to come back
it was very reasonable. i had asked why does it take so long? they responded that. parts not in stock come from over seas and shipping to their business taked 7-15 business days that doesn;t include sat and sun.
also asked why don't they call us back. their responce again was that they are the only repair shop with in 60 miles of grand rapids and the oberwelming of new techknowledgie keeps them very busy,
blackies does an awesome job on fixing tv's.
just be pacient.
They couldn't fix it if they had to. They are the only authourized service center for my dvd player. Blackies had it for 9 weeks, with me calling for updates on it at least 7 times, with no concern from them. They didn't care at all, how do i know, they charged me $170, had it for 9 weeks and didn't fix it. I don't understand how they could be in business for that long. They will not call you back when say, I'll have to call you back, so don't believe them. They lie, cheat and steal. You know how they got out of not fixing it, they wrote on the work order they could not reproduce the problem. It less than five minutes for me to produce the problem when i got it home. Remember they had it for 9 weeks and they couldn't even call me up to ask about the problem. They are scammers. Your better of sending it back to the factory.
Blackie's Radio and TV Service. I called my tv manufacturer for some warranty serivce work on my HD CRT RP TV and they recommended Blackie's as they were the closest. My service call was for blurry edges and the left third of the set had a dark slightly yellow cast to it. The tech arrived at my house and looked at the set checked the convergence and ran the magic focus and said everything was within factory specs and not to worry about the yellow tin as you could only see it on a black and white image, but in actuality it affects all the color on that side of the screen. I wasted my lunch hour and then some being at my house while he did nothing that I couldn't have done myself. I also asked him if he knew of any ISF techs int he area that could calibrate my display and he gave me a blank stare. The same thing happened when i asked him if he knew anyone who could adjust the overscan on my set. After a few months lurking the AVSforum thread on my display made me more knowledgeable than a factory authorized servicer for my set. Do not expect anything from Blackie's avoid at all costs. There are other repair facilities in the area, use them.
Blackies TV Repair. Took our hi def TV for almost two weeks, when only the bulb needed replacing and then lied to us several times on why the unit wasn't fixed yet. Bulb replacement per manual is user friendly and can be replaced by owner. We have a warrantly and warrantly work is done by Blackies per manufacturer but we will pay for any additional repairs to this unit and would not take a toaster to Blackies for repair.
