The Bikini/Speedo LineThe bikini/speedo line removes hair in about a 3-inch strip around the line of your bikini or speedo (or low-rider briefs/panties) … but removes none of the hair underneath. It includes the hair on the pubis bone just above the bikini, & also along the front of the thighs & the inner thighs (and the back of the thighs if necessary). If you choose you can actually wear underwear or a bathing suit for your sugaring, & we will work around what you have on. (It should not be your favorite because it may get sticky from the sugar & need to be discarded. ) We also offer disposable underwear for women. During the summer we can follow your tan line! Or your sugarist can discreetly maneuver a towel to cover or uncover as needed.Options:
Bikini, Speedo
The Thong BrazilianThe thong brazilian removes all hair except what would be covered by a thong or g-string (and yes, men do wear thongs). The name comes from Brazilian women who were the first to wear thong bathing suits. In the front, hair is removed above, below & around the privates, but not the privates themselves (leaving hair on the labia for women, & on the penis & scrotum for men). The thong brazilian in the back includes the butt & the cleft of the butt cheeks but not the ####. During thong sugaring you can actually wear a thong or g-string if you choose, or have your sugarist maneuver a towel as needed. we also call the thong the extended bikini. Other names include the basic brazilian & the Mediterranean.Options:
Thong, G-string
The Bare-All BrazilianThe bare-all brazilian removes all hair from the privates, front & back (with the possible exception of a design described below). The bare-all brazilian is a thong brazilian plus the labia for women or the penis & scrotum for men – & if requested the entrance to the ####. The bare-all has many nicknames: the full monty, the sphinx, the guyzilla, the L.A. bikini, the extreme brazilian & the hollywood.
DesignsDesigns are quite popular for women who get the bare-all brazilian, usually a line on the mons pubis known as a “landing strip.” it also can be a heart, a star or virtually any simple shape that you desire. Some men get designs, too!

Sugaring for Women
How Much to RemoveMany women who come to studio smooth do not truly know how much hair they want removed. There is so much confusion about terminology, especially the word brazilian. Click here for the studio smooth definitions. Many women are not sure if they want to leave a little hair, or where, or how attractive that will be. Studio smooth can help: we can leave some hair – often in a simple design – & then you can look in a hand held mirror & decide if you like it. More hair can always be removed, right to the bare-all – smooth all over!
Where to Leave HairThere also is confusion about where hair might be left – & that is expected because there are different answers. While many now use the term brazilian to mean removing all genital hair, the original definition was that the hair covered by a thong bathing suit would not be removed. That is what we refer to as a thong brazilian, w/ hair remaining along the labia. Even in the bare-all brazilian — in which the labia are sugared bare — many women like to have some remaining hair in a design. The most popular is a thin line on the mons pubis known as a ”landing strip.” besides a stripe, the two most popular shapes are a heart & an arrow. At studio smooth, the “bottom line” is that we will do whatever you want within our guidelines of health & safety.
PositioningPositioning for the bare-all can feel a little awkward. Both women & men will need to help by stretching the skin, which must be tight to be sugared. Positioning for the labia may include that similar to gynecological visits, positioning for the cleft & the outer #### often can be accomplished on the side. Remember that your studio smooth esthetician has seen it all! And that being totally smooth is worth a little blushing!
Sexual BenefitsMany women extol the sexual benefits of sugaring. They say that “going bare” makes them feel sexier, & that their partners find them more attractive. Beyond those sexy feelings, there actually are physical benefits. For thousands of years medical experts have known that while hair enhances warmth, it is not as clean as bare skin. Hair can easily hold unsanitary substances! It is advised that you wait at least 24 hours after sugaring to have intercourse, which can irritate the newly bare skin.
When & How Often to SugarThe best results occur when sugaring regularly. After the first sugaring, the hair should be removed early during the growth cycle, typically when it is between 1/32 & 1/8 inch. Hair growth is faster for some than others, but the usual recommendation is to get sugared every 3-6 weeks, while you still look bare. Clients who return for a “maintenance sugaring” within that time period are offered a discount. As you continue sugaring, fewer & fewer hairs will grow back, & eventually the time period between sugarings can be lengthened. For health & safety reasons, you should not sugar during your menstrual cycle, so please make your next appointment w/ that in mind. That is one reason why women on a regular 28-day cycle make their appointments at four-week intervals.
Sugaring for Men
How Much to RemoveMany men who come to studio smooth are not sure how much genital hair they want removed. There is so much confusion about terminology, especially the word brazilian. Click herefor the studio smooth definitions. For the male (like the female), hair can be taken off everything. If you request a bare-all brazilian, hair typically will be removed from the scrotum, the base of the penis & the perineum. Some men are concerned about the scrotum because it is such sensitive skin. Your esthetician sugarist is trained to be extremely careful, & she will sugar the scrotum in very small sections. Or some men will choose to have everything done except for the scrotum, which on some men does not have much hair.
The Process & the PositionsOnce in the treatment room, the esthetician will ask some health-related questions & show you what the sugar looks like. She then will excuse herself so that you can undress from the waist down. There will be a towel on the massage table to drape across your middle as you lie on your back. Skin must be taut in order for the sugar to remove hair. Most skin is fairly taut already, but the scrotum, of course, is the loosest skin on the human body. Thus the scrotum needs to be pulled taut before the sugar is applied. You will help do this; the esthetician will ask you to use one or both hands to position your skin correctly. While you pull in one direction, the sugarist may use her gloved hand to pull in the other direction in order to keep the skin taut. You also will be asked to position the penis as needed to move it out of the way of the scrotum & inner thigh. Please be assured that your esthetician is prepared for any eventuality, & understands the special circumstances of the male client. She may on occasion suggest that it is time for a short break & will step out of the room for a few moments.
DesignsWith the bare-all brazilian, some men choose to have a design on the skin just above the penis. Common shapes include a heart & an arrow. At studio smooth, the “bottom line” is that we will do whatever you want within our guidelines of health & safety.
